Overview
The insight was hosted online over 4-days from around 9 AM to 5 PM, with speakers coming in for hourly sessions to give an overview of their job. Sessions were kept engaging with networking events, case studies. Participants were shown UBS' culture and values, approach towards sustainable investing, DE&I initiatives. Networking was also offered with two of the nine employee networks. We were briefed on fast-track opportunities at the end.
Skills
We gained insight into what are the specific professional-skills an analyst should need but I would say I gained more knowledge than skill. Although I would say my public speaking skills did improve.
Business Insight
It was very thorough, but on some ends it did get very technical, particularly on the Global Markets and Quant end. We got to hear from the analysts themselves as to why they chose their own division so that does help in helping to choose our own track. Overall, the explanation was very thorough and all panelists did well in answering our questions.
Culture
I think culture is the thing that makes UBS standout. Almost every panelist who came to speak has talked about their positive experience working here, and those with prior experience working at other firms complimented UBS' teamwork culture, community culture and meritocratic culture. I think while its data-driven and technology focused investment appealed to me, I have to say the culture was the standout factor for me.
Your Impressions
For someone who hasn't been to a lot of insight opportunities I would say this definitely made for a good one! In particular, the HR are extremely friend and extremely helpful, and they try their best to let you ask your question, even though it can sometime go over time. The speaker and them extended a session for an entire hour just because we had so many questions to ask!
Yes
Really do a lot of research on UBS, if you cannot convince yourself you want to work at UBS, then you won't be able to convince UBS to hire you to work for them.
