Overview
The programme was overall very insightful and helpful to understand the actual workplace in EY and also assurance line. It was very useful also to meet women from different network and also peers from different courses and universitites across the UK. Day-to-day work was basically to hear from different network across EY UK and also have the opportunity to ask various questions throughout. It also involves case studies group discussion and to present the group outcome to the facilitator.
Skills
I have developed a lot of useful skills through this programme, especially my presentation skills, and groupwork skills, through the case study session of the programme. Besides that, communication skills have also been developed in various networking sessions throughout the programme. It had also helped to boost my self-confidence, specifically by encouraging me to express my opinions on different situations and also the courage to raise questions and doubts. This is because every questions was very welcomed throughout the programme.
Business Insight
The programme was absolutely helpful for developing understanding about EY and the allocated service lines. Different sub-service lines in assurance were explained thoroughly, by talking through the responsibilities of different roles. I was also able to listen and talk to the graduate panel who joined the assurance line in the recent years and hence able to understand how their overall work experience was. This further develop my understanding about the job. Different networks across EY were also introduced so that I was able to understand potential opportunities in the business.
Culture
I found the company culture really friendly and comfortable. It was also very helpful to talk to the staff in EY, and they were always willing and happy to help out with any questions or problems. They were always trying their best to let the participants get the most out of the programme. Therefore, I would say that the general atmosphere of the company is really comfortable and would be especially suitable for fresh graduates or new joiners into the company.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed the overall insight programme, from the beginning to the end. The only disappointing point about the programme was it was held virtually instead of on-site. It would definitely be more insightful and amazing if the programme was held in-person. However, I would say the programme was really successful, by helping to achieve everything I have expected for, from understanding the business and service line, to being able to network and meet new people across the programme and the company. Also, it really helped to realise the benefit of working and collaborating in groups.
Yes
The first advice is to do as much research as you would about the company and the service line you apply, in order to make sure that you are really interested in the job role and EY, and it would also be really helpful for the interview process as well. Besides, it would be helpful to od the practice assessments or interviews before having the actuals ones. Moreover, just try to be as authentic as possible and how your passion towards the programme during the interview.
