Overview
Participants attended many deeply engaging and thought provoking talks exploring the legal sector and introducing a career at DLA Piper. On top of this, participants were intellectually stimulated in segments such as the 'Litigation Workshop', where we were guided by trainees to go through a mock litigation and negotiation process.
Skills
I have definitely learnt a lot more about the legal sector and the myriad of available options that a law degree allows. Furthermore, the hands-on nature of the Insight Programme allowed me to develop skills such as learning how to ask relevant questions and thinking more deeply about my understanding of the world and how society intertwines with the law.
Business Insight
It was truly eye-opening. I think the firm is doing an incredible job in not only maintaining and developing its strong expertise with all things legal related, but the firm has so many other options to do with developing legal technology and reaching sustainability goals as well. This resonated with me deeply.
Culture
The company culture was very welcoming and warm! It seemed like everyone was happy to be there and enjoyed the company of their colleagues. The trainees especially, who came in a larger group, seemed like they had a general camaraderie. All speakers were eager to answer questions and were truly inspiring.
Your Impressions
I really did enjoy the insight programme. The firm was so generous and the amount of welfare provided for us was unparalleled. I felt so valued as an attendee and I can only imagine the amount of effort put into the development of employees of the firm. The insight programme was also eye-opening and went beyond my expectations overall in giving me an insight into the legal sector and firm culture.
Yes
Have a general idea of your goals and what you want but most importantly, demonstrate a genuine curiosity and interest in the firm and its work. I think at this stage, it is so valuable to come with questions.
