    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • I was part of the Discover EY – Women in the Leadership tax team. I think this was an amazing experience. It gave me an insight into tax and the different lines of services. The team members and the graduates were very helpful. I had several questions about relocation, work-life balance and qualifications regarding tax. The best thing is they also consider participants for the summer internship program next year. Most importantly the case study taught me a lot. I recommend everyone to apply to this programme and kick start their career with this amazing opportunity!

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Firstly, as I have mentioned there are many interactions between the team and the graduates this improved my communication skills and made me very confident. We had a session where we were supposed to interact with other participants and talk about our course and our backgrounds. This made me very confident when communicating with others. A team assignment also improved my team working skills. I have developed these skills further and made connections on LinkedIn too!

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • Understanding the business and potential roles can be a challenging but exciting experience. It requires a combination of research, analysis, and communication skills. To understand a business, you need to research its history, market position, products/services, and competitors. You also need to understand the industry trends, consumer behavior, and economic factors that can affect the business. I think this wonderful experience at EY gave me a lot of information regarding this and it will help me in the future.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Some companies have a culture that emphasizes innovation, collaboration, and risk-taking, while others prioritize efficiency, structure, and stability. The atmosphere of a company can be influenced by factors such as the physical workspace, the communication style, and the relationships between colleagues. EY had a perfect combination of both. The insight was virtual and lasted for 2 days so I don’t have much to say but the 2 days were quite fun and informational
