Overview
The agenda for Day 1 included an icebreaker session, diversity and inclusion webinar and service line sessions conducted by associates from the fields of assurance and tax. Day 2 started with a networking session. Later, we received a brief introduction to the service lines of consulting and Strategy and Transactions followed by an interactive presentation of a sustainability case study.
Skills
I was able to develop my skills in areas of team building, presenting, communication and leadership and social influence. I also engaged in networking which helped me expand my circle outside university. Other than that, I got exposed to a lot of new information in the field of consulting and assurance which I didn't know prior to the programme.
Business Insight
It really helped me broaden my mindset about the various fields that I could go into after graduation. It helped me realise that each field has its own perks and job characteristics. As speakers were mostly recent graduates, they were able to answer our questions from a more student based perspective which was the best part about their presentation for me!
Culture
Everyone was very keen and social. The students who attended the meet were generally from universities all across the UK, pursuing a variety of different courses! The presenter and panelists were very friendly and answered to every written question. I felt very comfortable since they told us to not be hesitant and no question is a "stupid question".
Your Impressions
I would highly recommend this programme to all first year students who want to gain an insight in the working culture at EY and the various service lines the firm has to offer! I had a very productive and fruitful time!
Yes
Research about the firm, about their business prospects and where they intend of going in the future. Also, prior to the event, try and network with other students on Linkedin and converse with them as to what they expect from the event. I would also suggest networking with past attendees through linkedin asking them how can they make the most out of the experience!
