The Role
Interesting and rewarding
where possible was made to feel a valued member of the team
Fantastic support throughout
Massively variable, though when not so busy encouraged me to take the initiative and make myself busy
Was given a high level of responsibility, and enocuraged to take ownership of difficult tasks
Massively helpful, from improved lab skills, data interpretation, report writing, to interpersonal skills
The Company
Varied according to the work-load, but a good balance between fun and serious
Well organised from the department side, though the recruitment agency used were not so slick and made multiple errors with holiday and payments
Was encouraged to take many courses and attend seminars to further my learning, and was trained at all the revelant skills I needed to perform my job well
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
They are very appealing, though not very likely as staff turnover is slow due to the economic slow-down
The Culture
Due the large number of placement students on site, there was a large group of people to socialise with
Relatively expensive rent-wise, but the shops and pubs were cheap
The nightlife was limited in Ware, though there were many pubs, and clubs in nearby hertford
As a member of the social club, there are a huge variety of outside work activities available
