    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Brilliant placement which enabled me to learn a lot about a large corporate business

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt extremely valued by colleagues - there was never a time where I just thought I was 'the student'

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager helped guide me and also pushed me to reach the best of my ability

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Some days were busier than others - I was extremely busy during my project

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I think more responsibility was given to me this year in comparison to previous IP students - but that was because I demonstrated I could work to a very high standard.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Although this perhaps is not the career I wish to follow, this year has provided me with a huge skill base.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • We all worked together as a team really well. There were sometimes clashes, but that is to be expected.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There was no specific structure as its a very dynamic department, however I always felt like I had several things to be working on

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I have been on several training courses, one course in particular was a week long training course in london, all expenses paid, so a brilliant company to invest in their employees.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Above 25 days holiday

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Although this sort of work would not be my first choice, I've had a brilliant year and would definately consider working for GSK again.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes and no - there were a lot of students (117 of us!), however, because I was the only one in my department, I did feel a little isolated sometimes.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Because Stevenage is just outside of London, prices are much higher than the northern prices I'm used to, but it didn't feel too bad as I was on a wage.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The only club in Stevenage closed when I arrived although I wouldn't have gone anyway. The pubs are ok, but I wouldn't really want to go on a night out here.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • To be honest, I didn't look that hard, but at the same time, I never noticed anything that really appealed to me, apart from the gym.

    2/5
