Overview
Started of with an introduction about the values of MACE. Then we looked at the sustainability sector within MACE and how they strive to improve biodiversity within areas that they build in. They assess to see whether there are endangered species within the areas that they build on. Then we had a talk from a various numbers of recent graduates on the graduate scheme. We visited 40 Leadenhall street
Skills
I have developed networking skills as I was confident to speak to other people and gain greater insight into what working at MACE is like on a day to day basis. I networked with people on linkedin and found more about how and why they joined a company like MACE. I gained teamworking skills from the first group activity where we had to pick our top 3 items we would take from an island.
Business Insight
It was very insightful as I was able to see how various degrees can come together and work in the construction industry. Speaking to people such as Serbatu and how she had a degree in politics and international relations and now works in the construction industry. There a lot of various fields that people can work in and it is not just engineering degrees that work in the construction industry.
Culture
It was very welcoming. At the reception the admin staff where extremely welcoming and were all greeted with a smile which was very nice. All the staff would make an offer to speak to us which was so nice.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed the insight day a lot as I learnt a lot more about Mace and understood what their core values are. I liked how we were able to network. I especially liked the sustainability talk but do wish that we also had a talk from more of the engineering sectors at Mace
Yes
To be extremely genuine with their application process. When it comes to the assessment centre they need to make sure that they engage with all the other people in their assessment centre. They should ask insightful questions at the end of their assessment centre and should know why they want to work at Mace and not any other engineering consultancy firm.
