Overview
Each day was jam-packed with different activities - from learning about diverse practice areas, to networking sessions in a partner roundtable, to even having a day dedicated to shadowing an associate. These experiences were instrumental to help me gain an insight into what life as a Latham lawyer was like, and the diverse array of work available at Latham.
Skills
I have developed numerous skills, including communication, leadership and creativity. In particular, through numerous opportunities to apply what I learned has helped me become more flexible and adaptable.
Business Insight
It was incredibly eye-opening. In addition to learning about the different practice areas, one highlight of my experience was learning that Latham treats its pro-bono work akin to billable work at a certain point. This demonstrates that Latham not only has a focus on developing excellence in its billable work, but is committed to contributing to the wider community as a firm.
Culture
Friendly, welcoming and collegiate. Having many questions as a first-year student, everyone from partners to trainees were incredibly warm and helpful, and instantly put me at ease the minute I stepped into the firm. Additionally, the graduate recruitment team were constantly keeping us posted with any updates and were incredibly helpful particularly when discussing application advice.
Your Impressions
I incredibly enjoyed it, and wished I could do it again! At every part I felt as if I was not only learning, but was at times also able to apply what I learned too.
Yes
When applying, make sure to highlight attributes that make your individual personality stand out. Particularly during the application and interview process, I felt a genuine effort made by the graduate recruitment team to see how our personalities came through, which was personable and reassuring.
