Overview
Micronising production support from a process and product perspective. This includes process improvement work, as well as deviation investigation and validation support.
Skills
Big development in communication between different teams on site and developed a deeper understanding of the workings of a pharmaceutical company.
Responsibilities
Given a significant amount of responsibility when it came to leading projects or investigations. However, there were always people to support and help out if anything was unclear or new to me.
Support & Guidance
There was always support available but often had to seek it myself which I found difficult to begin with, but helps to learn independence in the work place and most people are willing to help.
Culture
Very friendly people in the wide team, however often a top-down approach from higher up managers putting pressure on already very busy people.
Your Impressions
I very much enjoyed my placement, I think there are certain areas for improvement (particularly the onboarding process where I felt a bit lost for a while at the beginning of my placement). Also, I often found my work and responsibility of my team to not be directly related to chemical engineering.
Yes
Be yourself! GSK looks for authentic people who are invested in the role. You aren't expected to know everything before you start.
