Overview
Analytical testing with a HPLC machine Create protocols for testing to improve methods through method validation Mixture of desk work and lab work Working on projects to improve processes in the lab
Skills
Yes, Learnt how to use a number of new data basing systems Developed my skills in excel, onenote and professional emailing Lab skills: Standard Preparation HPLC analysis Method creation
Responsibilities
Yes I was given plenty of responsibility throughout, although it took a while to hit the ground running
Support & Guidance
Support and guidance was high, through my managers, my mentor and the IP lead on site
Culture
It was mostly very welcoming and accepting, there were a few people who had ideas that I did not agree with in the LGBTQ+ community though
Your Impressions
I enjoyed a number of parts of it, but this placement was not exactly what I was looking for
Yes
Really think about why you are applying, it is very important and will be the driving force for your work throughout your time here. Lots of people work at GSK, staying here for long periods of time or using it as a springboard to something new
