The Role
Very worthwhile year. Colleagues were great fun and motivating environment to work in
Felt very much a part of the team. Didn't feel like I was an IP. My work and skills were highly valued.
Had two different managers during my year, two very different people with different approaches. But both supportive, one more than the other.
Generally always had a steady flow of work to deal with. On odd occasions, I had either too work to deal with or not enough to deal with, but generally the work flow was good.
Given a lot of responsibility. Makes you feel valued and appreciated. Also gives you the chance to learn new skills and suggest new ideas.
Used some basic maths knowledge, but most importantly learnt key life skills such as time management, communication, teamwork, using my initiative etc. I believe these will help me greatly when looking for a graduate job.
The Company
Team mates were great fun. Varied ages, but there were 2 other IP's in my team. Always having a joke and had several team nights out. Made the placement so much more enjoyable.
For the most part, well organised. Had a few issues initially getting set up.
Did several online courses which helped support the work I was doing however I think there was potential to invest more in this. I didn't receive a PDP which I think would have been useful.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
I have applied to their Graduate scheme through the fast track process that is available to IP's. However I think there would be a possibility to get a job anyway if this didn't work out based on various conversations with my manager and other colleagues.
The Culture
There were lots of other IP's in my office so was good to meet other people from different areas. However since I didn't live locally it made it more difficult to socialise.
I didn't live near the area I worked in so can't really comment.
Again, can't really comment on this.
There seemed to be plenty of sporting activites, religious activities and other activities available.
