Overview
As a participant, I had the opportunity to engage in various activities, attend workshops, network with professionals, and gain a deeper understanding of the legal profession. Day-to-Day Experience: Day 1: Introduction and Welcome The first day started with a warm welcome and introduction to DLA Piper. We were given an overview of the firm's history, values, and global reach. We were introduced to various practice areas, such as corporate, litigation, and intellectual property law. Day 2: Workshops and Case Studies We participated in an interactive litigation simulation focused on developing essential legal skills, such as legal research, drafting, negotiation, and presentation. We were also given a case study to work on in small groups, which provided practical exposure to solving real-world legal problems. Day 3: More networking and understanding of CSR and Diversity

Negotiation Skills: One of the workshops during the week focused specifically on mediation techniques. Through interactive role-play exercises, we simulated real-life negotiation scenarios, where we represented different parties with conflicting interests. This allowed me to learn and practice various negotiation strategies, such as: Preparation and research: Understanding the needs and interests of all parties involved, as well as the legal and commercial context of the negotiation. Active listening and communication: Paying attention to what the other party is saying, asking open-ended questions, and clearly articulating our own position. Problem-solving and creativity: Identifying mutually beneficial solutions, exploring alternative options, and remaining flexible and adaptable during the negotiation process. Teamwork Skills: Throughout the Insight Week, there were numerous opportunities to collaborate with fellow participants, particularly during group activities and case study assignments. Working in teams allowed me to develop and enhance various teamwork skills, such as: Effective communication: Articulating my ideas clearly, actively listening to others, and ensuring that all team members had the opportunity to contribute.
