The Role
I enjoyed the responsibility and the variation of the projects i was given at the start of my placement. However, when i moved to the Purchase Ledger Department, the experience was horrible and miserable, mainly due to poor management.
I didn't feel i got the recognition i deserved for my hardwork.
The feedback i got from the management was poor and too late. I always felt that they were against me and did not want me to succeed.
I was very busy everyday, and some weeks i worked over 50 hours. However, for the most part, the work was tedious and boring.
I was given quite a lot of responsibilty when working for the Group Project Manager as i was responsible for several important projects. However, when i moved to the Purchase Ledger Department, i was hardly given any responsibilty despite my financial background and despite having worked for over 3 months.
The project management skills i have developed will put me in good stead for the future because i have developed my time management and organisation skills.
The Company
The atmosphere was very serious on the whole and the management always tried to intimidate their inferiors and were not shy of publically humiliating their colleagues.
Fairly well organised on the whole.
I went on the mandatory team talk modules and they gave me responsilbilty of certain important projects which enabled me to develop my skills.
An unnecesarilly long and tiresome graduate programe but potential to gain promotion to a fairly high level in time.
The Culture
Fairly good. In fact it was quite good how the placement students tended to go out with the graduates.
For me personally was very high. However it can be fairly low depending on the choices you make.
Non existent as on an industrial park. Therefore had to drive or catch a long an expensive taxi to the city centre.
Football only.
