Spring Insight Programme Review

The Spring Insight Programm was an excellent opportunity to learn about CITIBANK and banking. Getting insights into several different divisions of the bank, I was able to get some first understanding on how such a huge financial institutions works. During the two days in the office, I was able to get some first very insightful experience on the desk with my two spring buddies. I was able meet people from different sector- and industry teams.

Next to the understanding of how a bank works, learning how the people work at CITI was truly insightful. Having coffee-chats with Analysts, Associates and Directors, I was not only able to enhance my communication skills, but also improve my technical knowledge about the finance industry in general. It was a great possibility to not only develop academic skills, but also improve social skills. The interaction with CITI‘s team as well with the other Spring Interns was a great possibility to network and meet new people

Several different presentations of company representatives gave some really valuable insight on how the company works on an every-day basis. Therefore, we got Deep Dive Talks into Investment Banking, Corporate Banking and Capital Markets as part of the BCMA-Group (Banking, Capital Markets and Advisory Services). Furthermore, the interaction with Analysts and Associates really helped to understand the work and role of the different people in the company. This made the experience extremely valuable and contributed to a once in a lifetime-Spring experience.

The company culture was extremely open-minded and everyone was very kind and supportive. While I was looking through the financial statements of a company, the Analyst on the desk next to me just came to me and asked if I needed some help and offered me to go to a meeting room. I enjoyed going to the office every day of the Spring Week because everyone was so open and people also showed interest in me.

I really enjoyed the Insight Programme and would definitely recommend the application to every student. The Organisation was great and the Programme was truly diverse. Therefore, the Spring Insight Programme was really insightful and an experience that I will remember for the rest of my life. The people I met and the friendships I made will last. In general, the Programme not only enhancing my technical, communication and social skills, but it also helped to decide on whether to choose a career in banking after university or not.

Make sure that your CV is very interest and you gained experiences in several different environments. Not only the academic part, but also the social skills are very important for CITI. I didn’t do any important internships before, but my experience in the fields of sports and leadership really helped me to secure a place in the Programm. The interviews were very competency, and not technical based. Everybody at CITI is really trying to let you feel comfortable during the interview.
