Overview
Introduction to different positions and divisions within Deutsche Bank. We listened to talks from employees of varying experience to learn about what they do day-to-day and what they have worked on in the past. We also had sessions to improve our skills e.g. networking, confidence and interview technique. The first two days of the course were run virtually via Zoom, with the remaining three days being in person in the London offices.
Skills
I developed my networking and communication skills throughout the programme, due to the guidance we were given and also being able to interact with a range of people, especially people higher up in the company. I was already a confident person going into the programme, but I enjoyed the drama workshop where we practised responding to different styles of management.
Business Insight
It was an eye-opening experience to find out just how many different roles there are within Deutsche Bank and that there are many more divisions than you may initially think of. I felt there was a good overview from the team but I enjoyed the shadowing sessions more, as I could get all of my questions answered.
Culture
The core values at Deutsche Bank shone through during the week and it was clear that people felt valued there. We also listened to specific talks about the DB culture.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed the programme, especially the shadowing opportunities and the buddy scheme. I learnt a lot and my questions were answered during these sessions. I think they gave us a wide range of activities during the programme and the social event for us to get to know one another was also good fun.
Yes
For this spring programme, try your best in the online assessments because this is one of the main things they can look at since you are applying in first/second year, so have no uni grades yet. Also, just be yourself in the telephone interview and treat it like a conversation, not an interview (this worked for me!). There were people with different degrees, you do not need to do economics/finance!
