Overview
Daily tasks included legal research, attending meetings with clients and attending presentations hosted by graduate recruitment. These presentations provided a deeper insight to the firm, including its pro bono work, a practice area far, information about qualification and Q&A sessions. We were also encouraged to reach out to members of the firm to discuss what a career at HSF looks like.
Skills
I developed legal research skills and gained insight into how client interactions should be managed.
Business Insight
It was very valuable as some of the business insights gained could not be found through research online. It was great to learn more about the firm's overall strategy for the coming years.
Culture
Everyone was very friendly and eager to engage in conversation. My supervisors made an effort to tell me how the work I was doing contributed to important client matters, even if the task was more admin-based.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it a lot as it was my first experience of it's kind. It confirmed the career path I wanted to pursue.
Yes
Be very concise in your application. During the assessment centre, let your personality shine and do not panic if you make a mistake. They are looking for potential so as long as you recover well and explain your thought process, you will do well.
