Responsibilities
Yes, after a period of settling in, I felt for the majority of my placement my responsibilities did not differ hugely to those on my team. I was given a lot of responsibility, and was trusted to look after a big portion of the online business (with the support of my manager).
Support & Guidance
My manager was incredible at supporting me throughout my placement, and I never felt like I couldn't ask for help. However, it is a very fast-paced business, and sometimes you feel reluctant to ask colleagues for help, as it may feel as if that's less important than the tasks they are working on.
Culture
From my experience, it does really vary depending on team. However, the atmosphere of my team was amazing. Everyone is lovely, and supportive, and you genuinely feel like people care about you. Most teams hire people into their team who they believe will be a good fit for the atmosphere. The overall culture is great, and everyone works to incorporate the ethos where possible. They are great for inclusivity too.
Your Impressions
I loved my placement and am very sad it's almost over. Although at times it was challenging, I could never have anticipated how much I'd learn over the year. I feel like my personal and professional skills have developed massively, and I feel really well-equipped to go into the working world once I graduate. I've rarely had days that I haven't enjoyed!
Yes
It's so important to be yourself. In my experience, I've never come across individuals who are so authentic. Showing your personality throughout the interview process is key, as that's what will make you stand out. Most people applying for roles are likely doing so as they have very similar qualifications, so this is so important to show how you'd fit into a team.
