Act as a Study Director for Homogeneity, Stability and Vehicle Assessment / solubility studies. Act as Analyst for Validation of Analytical Methods and subsequent Analysis of Test Samples.
Skills
Significantly developed my scientific and laboratory skills. Developed communication skills through collaboration with colleagues in my own and in other departments. Greatly developed organisational skills, commercial awareness, critical thinking, digital skills, decision making and professional conduct.
Responsibilities
Yes, I initially started off observing/working with other colleagues. I have been able to progress to the point where I can act as Study Directors for different studies, and act as a Dispensary Rep.
Support & Guidance
Support was available not only within my team but also from the wider department and the Industrial Placement network. Staff are all really friendly and happy to accommodate you at any time.
Culture
Really good company culture. Everybody is really friendly and makes a big effort to make you feel welcome. IP Unite is the organisation in place to support industrial placement students. They organise socials, development events and other charity events to help you meet other students and network.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my placement. I learned a lot from my own department, but was also given the freedom to go and shadow other departments and get a feel for what it is like to work across GSK. I met lots of people and made some really good friends!
Yes
Be confident in yourself and your abilities. Ask as many questions as you need to - the staff at GSK are always willing to help you learn and happy to accommodate. Try to pick out as many skills as you can from things you have done in the past. You should always be able to back up anything you say with an example. Do lots of research about the company, its values and its culture. Make sure the company is right for you
