Overview
As a vacation scheme student, I sat in the seats of corporate and dispute. In corporate department, I was assigned to do legal research on a legal issue involved in the performance of an outsourcing contract. I was also involved in a M&A deal, conducted company research, and conducted due diligence. In dispute department, I was assigned to analyse an insurance policy and studied a few legal issues. There are many events, too.
Skills
I have developed the legal writing skill. I was tasked to draft an email to answer the client's question. Through my supervisor's feedback, I learned to avoid using legal jargons and explain some English legal concepts in detail in the communication with the client.
Business Insight
The firm organised a lot of presentations and practice area fairs. The lawyers and trainees that I had coffee with also shared their experiences and insights with me. I learned more about the SQE, training contract, different practice areas, and the firm's strategy. I am even more interested in joining the firm.
Culture
Everyone is very nice and friendly. There is no hierarchy. Partners, associates and trainees and very willing to answer all my questions about their career journey and the firm.
Your Impressions
First, I enjoy working with the people at the firm. They are nice and helpful. Second, I enjoy all the events organised by the graduate recruitment team, which helps me deepen my understanding of the firm.
Yes
First, show your enthusiasm about commercial law and the firm. Second, raise your commercial awareness and communication skills. These skills are very important in the interview.
