The Role
Great support from my team which enabled me to work on many things and have a great year
Very much felt like part of the team and a regular employee to GSK as opposed to a placement student who was there temporary.
Weekly meetings with my manager enabled me to receive great support and anytime I had any issues I felt comfortable speaking to my manager
Varied throughout the year. Some extremely busy days where there are not enough hours and some days where the workload was considerably low.
As much as we wanted to take on we were allowed. It was up to us how involved we got.
My placement year enabled me to complete a module along side it and I was able to form a strong bridge between the two.
The Company
Great. Always people about everything was quite laid back so you can always have a laugh and escape from the seriousness and pressure that does occur.
Very well organised and there was somebody always available to take any questions I had. Very good communication prior to starting my placement.
If there was a course or any training I wanted to carry out I always had the opportunity as long as it was relevant to my job role and studies.

Working from home
Very interested the graduate scheme seems like an amazing opportunity. Working at the company for a year has enabled me to see a future here and it is a career path I would definitely like to pursue.
The Culture
Yeah very good, we had a strong placement student community among us, great after work events and during work lunch breaks. You feel like your not alone as there are so many other placement students around you who can support you as well.
My parents lived in London so I was living with them, socialising in Central London will never be cheap but there are plenty of good deals out there to keep the bank balance a moderate level.
30 minutes from central London where there are endless amounts of pubs, bars, restaurants and other fun things to go see. In the actual area I worked some really nice pubs to go for a relaxing drink after work which is sometimes definitely needed.
Still GSK related there were loads of opportunities to get involved in various charity events, Olympic events. There is a lot of opportunity to get involved in activities outside of your daily activities.
