Overview
My role at Mott MacDonald varied depending on the project I was working on. I supported the environmental consultants on various tasks including working on Environmental Impact Assessments and Environmental Appraisal Reports. I worked on desk studies investigating the baseline information for the study area and determining the potential impacts of the scheme. I also worked in a coordination role where I collected information from multiple teams and collated it into one document.
Skills
I was able to develop skills I already had as well as learn new skills such as: Planning, organisation, teamwork, communication, coordination, report writing and editing, digital skills, and confidence.
Responsibilities
Yes I was given responsibilities during my placement that were within my ability and throughout the process I was always supported by someone else on that project.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support from my line manager throughout the year as well as other colleagues I was working with on projects. I always felt that there was someone around that I was comfortable asking a question to or asking for help.
Culture
The culture and atmosphere in the office was very nice, everyone is always willing to help and take time to answer any questions you have. It is a very supportive and welcoming environment.

I really enjoyed this placement and think that it has provided me with a lot of transferrable skills as well as helped me to become more confident in myself.
