Overview
▪ Communicating with employees including preparation of formal letters and correspondence. ▪ Provide support for the Undergraduate Recruitment process including assistance with interviews. ▪ Managing and maintaining HR systems, ensuring that information given is captured correctly and effectively. ▪ Handling of sensitive data and confidential documents and reports. ▪ Arranging and attending a variety of HR meetings. ▪ Working with other HR Undergraduates for cross-departmental learning. ▪ Supporting and contributing to ongoing HR initiatives and projects.
Skills
I have developed the following skills: prioritisation, problem solving, time management, effective communication, team player, attention to detail, flexibility skills. I have also learnt how to use excel effectively to create different monthly reports.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was given a great deal of responsibility. I was fully trusted and relied upon by my colleagues to complete work accurately for tight daily, monthly deadlines.
Support & Guidance
At the start of my placement, I received a 2 week handover period with the previous undergraduates. This handover period was beneficial to my initial learning and really helped me settle into my role. Throughout my placement year, I have received regular one to one meetings with my line manager and I have always been able to reach out to other members of the team who have always available to support.
Culture
The company culture at Honda centers around 'the power of dreams' which is integrated into everyday working environment. Everyone is always encouraged look at processes and question why things are done in a certain way, I found this really interesting as I had never worked anywhere like that before! On a daily basis, the general atmosphere of the business is always really positive and friendly.
Your Impressions
I have really enjoyed my placement year with Honda. I have been able to enhance my existing skill set and develop a variety of new skills. Everything I have learnt throughout my placement year will contribute to my future professional development.

I would advise others applying to Honda Motor Europe for a placement year to make sure you properly research the company and it's values. You also need to ensure your CV includes a variety of experiences that link to relevant skills. Finally, when applying submit a CV and cover letter!
