Overview
▪ Communicating with employees including preparation of formal letters and correspondence. ▪ Providing support for the Undergraduate Recruitment process including assistance with interviews. ▪ Managing and maintaining HR systems, ensuring that information given is captured correctly and effectively. ▪ Handling of sensitive data and confidential documents and reports. ▪ Working with other HR Undergraduates for cross-departmental learning. ▪ Supporting the HR team in any other HR related activity as required
Skills
I have developed my skills in: time management, prioritisation, collaboration, working with others in a team, presenting, Microsoft Excel, effective communication and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
I was given full trust and responsibility during my placement and was often relied upon/worked closely with colleagues to complete daily, weekly and monthly tasks.
Support & Guidance
I received a handover by the previous Undergraduates for a 2 week period at the start of my placement which allowed me to ease into the role. I had regular 1-1s with members of the team and could reach out via Teams if working remotely. I felt like I could speak to any member of the team for guidance.
Culture
The company culture at Honda focused on respect for the individual and the Power of Dreams which I felt was embedded into my role. The general atmosphere was friendly and positive.
Your Impressions
I have really enjoyed the opportunities presented during my placement. I feel that it has given me a full in-depth experience of HR and working in an office environment. At times it was challenging, however I could reach out to any member of the team for support.
Yes
I would advise others to ensure they research the company to show they are passionate when applying for a role. Ensure you have evidence of a variety of experiences to meet the job description and ensure you tailor your CV and cover letter to the company as this will help your application to stand out.
