Overview
It was a 2 day event hosted by Goldman Sachs in person in their offices in London. It involved sessions from 9-5 and a networking session following this to make sure that we got to know not only the firm itself but also our fellow peers. There were back to back sessions that involved the revenue generating steams at Goldman Sachs. This included asset and wealth management, investment banking and sales and trading. The event also had a networking lunch where we were able to talk to people working at Goldman Sachs to ask more questions.
Skills
It provided me the opportunity to learn about the financial services industry, specifically investment banking, and gain some practical experience in the field. Investment bankers are often required to communicate complex financial concepts to clients and colleagues in a clear and concise manner. Through the program, I learnt how to communicate my ideas effectively through presentations and written reports. The program provided me with opportunities to develop your analytical skills by working on case studies, financial analysis exercises, and other projects.Investment banking involves working in a team environment. The program provided me with opportunities to improve your time management skills by working on time-sensitive tasks.
Business Insight
The spring insight programme enabled me to consider all the revenue generating divisions as Goldman Sachs. I previously only ever thought of investment banking. However, this opened my eyes up to asset management, wealth management, sales, trading, equity capital markets, debt capital markets, FICC and equities. Also, my mentor has told me about private equity in Goldman Sachs and the magnitudes of execution that she does. Finally is the investment and lending decision including securities backed loans.

Your Impressions
I absolutely loved this spring insight week. It really opened my eyes up and now I can explore my options to play to my strengths for the application season. I cannot wait to be a returning candidate. The recruitment team were very friendly and I had a wonderful time around the office. They were very accommodating and helpful to all students, both in person and virtually. I would have loved it to be longer but really felt that they invested their time into the spring insight programme.
