Overview
Working on two early financial news TV shows. Main jobs include producing interviews, sourcing guests for the show, putting together briefing notes and logistical information for each guest, meeting and greeting guests when they arrive in studio. Other responsibilities involve updating the newsroom's diary each week, inputting guest information into the database, creating video clippings for the online team.
Skills
Field producing, technical set up of cameras, lights, sound systems, technical set up and 'skedding' of interviews, producing edit instructions, compiling briefing notes for the anchors, using software including iNews and Stratus. Significantly developed communication skills, time management and the ability to work calmly despite the intense pressure of working in live television.
Responsibilities
A great deal - I was expected to perform the same tasks as my more experienced colleagues. My responsibility increased at a rapid but manageable pace.
Support & Guidance
I received a great deal of support and guidance when I needed it from my manager and colleagues. I was given autonomy to learn things for myself and make my own mistakes, but my team were always there to assist when necessary.
Culture
Fantastic. I got on very well with my colleagues. Everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming despite the high pressure environment.
