Overview
Most of my time is spent responding to daily enquiries from all on-highway customers, however there are a few specific accounts which I support on a more personal level, in order to develop further business and track company sales. My role also includes leading multiple projects, including a female engagement event and creating a consolidated resource for all on-highway customers.
Skills
I have learnt and developed many new skills on my placement! The main skill I have developed has been problem-solving and negotiation. As I have daily conversations with a lot of customers there have been many problems I have encountered whereby I have had to look at alternative options available and use my initiative to ensure I keep the customer satisfied, whilst also using my business acumen.
Responsibilities
I was given lots of responsibility during my placement and was seen as just another member of the team.
Support & Guidance
I received continuous support from both my team and my manager. I had regular 1:1’s to discuss development opportunities and my progress throughout the placement, as well as daily support and guidance from my team on everyday tasks.

Your Impressions
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement at Cummins! I especially liked the flexibility I had with my role and the opportunity to branch out to experience segments of the business I was interested in exploring.

Make sure you understand and learn Cummins core values so you can relate examples to each. I would also say don’t worry about having previous knowledge of the industry, as Cummins look more at your skills and attributes.
