Overview
As I mentioned before, my role is to essentially provide generator set support to dealers and distributers across the globe. On a day to day basis I am dealing with enquiries from providing data sheets and 3D drawings to using software's such as gensize to help select the most suitable generator set for a particular application.
Skills
Yes, I have learnt how to use software's such as Gensize and Creoview. Built on my excel, word and PowerPoint skills. Learnt how to professionally answer email enquiries. Improved my presentation skills.
Responsibilities
Yes, I built up a lot of trust with my manager through my placement where I was given more and more responsibility as time went on. I started with only answering datasheet and drawing request enquiries where I would need his supervision to send responses to being able to assign emails to members in the team, take on a variety for different enquiries and send my responses with no supervision.
Support & Guidance
At the beginning quite a lot and as I became more proficient, I didn't need as much guidance. However, I was always able to receive support and guidance from my manager and the rest of my team whenever I needed it.
Culture
Very good. Very inclusive. Other than the fact most people worked at home so the office was quite empty, every interaction I had within the company was a good one.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my placement very much. I learnt a lot of skills, developed a few skills I already had previously and there was never a moment where I had nothing to do or was repeating the same work all the time. The only thing I would change is have a few more opportunities to do things outside of the office.
Yes
Your CV is important but you grades aren't everything. If you take the time to actually look into the company and are interested in what Cummins does you will standout.
