Overview
My day to day work varied quite a decent amount. It consisted of creating experience stories using Adobe XD for customer deals, doing work with an Adobe Solution, in my case this was Adobe Commerce, and shadowing/assisting in customer meetings. I also got the chance to go to several different events such as IRX on behalf of Adobe.
Skills
I have learnt lots of new skills. The main skills I learnt were time management, learning how to learn/adapt quickly, how to handle objections, how to talk to customers and lots more. I also developed several skills that I already had before joining. This included presenting, public speaking and more.
Responsibilities
I had a good amount of responsibility during my placement year. A main example of this would be surrounding creating experience stories. It was my responsibility to create these and I was given a good amount of freedom in how to create them. I essentially owned these experience stories that I created so I was also given credit for them which was nice, my work with these was also greatly appreciated by my colleagues.
Support & Guidance
There was a good amount of support during my placement, if I ever had any questions or concerns I could easily reach out to serval different people who could help. Several people looked after me, including a manager, a 'buddy', a mentor and a hiring manager. However, there were times where I felt like I fell between the gaps of all these different people, i.e, people assumed another was looking out for me when none were.
Culture
General atmosphere was nice, people were very open and friendly, and I felt like I could see my colleagues as friends rather than just colleagues. There were also several company events where people could have fun and socialise which was very nice.
Your Impressions
Overall, I really enjoyed my placement. I feel like I have learnt a lot, and this experience will forever stay with me.
Yes
Be yourself and be personable, this will make the interview/application process a lot easier and less stressful. Try and emphasise creativity, and make sure to research the company and industry beforehand.
