Overview
Internal operations reporting such as creating KPIs and utilisation reports and acting as PMO for various public sector sales and bids. I track the progress of these bids using excel spreadsheets and documents that I have created and complete data analysis as well as writing responses to clients.
Skills
I have never learnt so much than I have in 9 months on my placement. I have developed skills using new tools and advanced excel such as VB and macros. IBM also like to upskill their employees and provide hundreds of self paced courses that allow skill development. They have also funded my first professional cloud exam where I have learnt the title of a AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.
Responsibilities
I was given so much responsibility. I was given the opportunity to visit client sites and travel abroad and have also had the opportunity to run client integrated team meetings each week with upto 20 attendees.
Support & Guidance
The senior collegues at IBM have you in their best interest. They see you as the future of the company and provide support and guidence throughout. You are given both a task and doundation manager. The task manager delegates jobs daily and provides guidence and the foundation manager is there for your wellbeing and ensures you are always happy and learning.
Culture
The company is amazing. Everyone is kind and has your best interest in mind. People actually WANT to help you grow and senior staff are extremely engaging with the early professionals. It seems so sociable.
Your Impressions
I thorougly enjoyed my placement. IBM is so welcoming and the perfect company for me.
Yes
Be yourself. Be fun. Be curious. Even if applying for technical roles, IBM know that you are young and have less skills than most but the curiously to learn is what is important for applications.
