Overview
My role was that of a junior civil engineer. On a day to day basis my tasks included technical CAD work, report writing, design meetings, and site visits. I was able to work on a wide range of projects which allowed me to gain experience and knowledge of a variety of disciplines within civil engineering.
Skills
I have massively developed my existing CAD skills throughout this year through day to day tasks as well as more formal training. I have also gained new skills in professional report writing and learnt how to use new software.
Responsibilities
I was given a lot of responsibility and independence in my tasks but there was always help and guidance available when I needed it.
Support & Guidance
I was given a lot of support and guidance and everyone was always willing and happy to answer my questions and offer advice.
Culture
The company culture is fantastic, they put a huge emphasis on encouraging a healthy work/life balance and good mental and physical health. The office is also very sociable and friendly.

I loved my placement and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to gain industry experience in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
