Overview
Providing dedicated assistance to one or more sourcing teams within the office Working with a group of suppliers to assist on purchase order management, cost reduction, capacity planning, quality performance and risk mitigation Specific project work in support of functional objectives Involvement in functional excellence – opportunity to work with other business units in the region to help share common processes, tools, and resources to better achieve business goals Data analysis to assist purchasing KPIs and specific project requirements Engagement with other functions, including supplier quality, material planning, finance, and engineering
Skills
I improved my research skills, Communication skills, presentation skills and digital literacy during this placement. Overall, I gained valuable personal and professional learning experiences during this period of student placement at Cummins Inc. I hope to apply them to my future career effectively and professionally.
Responsibilities
I was given great opportunities and important responsibilities during the placement year. Responsible for preparing documents, reports that were important to the business.
Support & Guidance
Working in an enjoyable setting with a wide group of people was my favorite part. During my time at Cummins, I developed a lot of friends, which made coming to work pleasurable, which was really important to me. Cummins is a very social workplace. As a student, I was given enough support and guidance from each member of my team. I was given trainings, took part in seminars, meeting and supplier visits.
Culture
Cummins' work culture encourages both team and individual efforts and provides significant tasks to its employees. I enjoyed working with other team members on completing significant projects that helped the company meet important business objectives. I also like being able to work independently on a variety of projects while knowing that I am part of a great team that was supportive of each member. Cummins values teamwork, and I felt at ease working there.
Your Impressions
My placement year was one of the best things I have done during my time at university. Having the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a real office gave me more opportunities. I learnt a lot about myself and gained many skills that will be a key to success in the future.

1. Apply as early as possible, but expect it to take some time. 2. Do some research on the company before writing up your cover letter/ facing the interview. 3. Be patient and apply for all suitable placement positions in the company. 4. Set some goals for yourself about the things you want and stick to them. 5.
