The Role
I enjoyed the balance between lab work and offiice work
The work I was carrying out contributed a lot to the project but I was not necessarily recognised for that
I have had a mixed experience with my supervisors, one was not very supportive and didn't manage me very well, the other was the complete opposite
Due to the nature of lab work some days you will be rushed off your feet whereas other days you won't but there is always writing up and research you can do in the meantime
After having learnt and shadowed my supervisors to undertake certain skills, I was left to plan my days and carry out the lab work independently with some guidance if I had questions
All the skills I have learnt will aid me in my degree and beyond
The Company
Overall it was good, however, very quiet sometimes
I had a project ready for me to work on, however, a 6 month rotation would have been useful in giving me wider breadth of knowledge
Courses were available but not necessary implemented or encouraged
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
It is a very successful company to work for and I have applied for a grad scheme within the company
The Culture
Networking groups were set up which made it easy if you wanted to get involved in the social scene
Realtively cheap area
Not a great nightlife, best to go into London
I got involved in the local hockey team, but I actively went to seek this out
