    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role changed on a monthly basis as I was part of a team of 4 interns. My role is internal. The roles included: Onboarding - Managing the onboarding of all IBM Consulting UKI Experienced Hires including the delivery of a 2 day induction Offboarding - Managing the offboarding of all IBM UKI Consultants - Providing senior management and relevant teams with weekly attrition data and managed the IBM Consulting UKI Distribution Lists accordingly. IBM Consulting UKI Release Review Coordinator - Scheduling and managing market level SRRs and PRRs (coordinate invitations for calls to discuss prospective client deals) UKI Net Promotor Score Focal - produced reports/ analysis based on score, volume and feedback received from clients. I aided senior management in the analysis and delivery of the IBM Consulting UKI NPS Scoring, indicating the business unit’s performance.

  • I have developed both personall and professionally. Main skills I have developed are communication, collaboration, public speaking, presentation. New skills I have learnt include excel, project management.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes - I was given a significant amount of responsibility in certain roles where I would engage with senior leadership, Bid and Proposal teams and new consultants. Also when managing data and regularly completing reports for employees.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Support received from both Task Manager and Foundation Manager. Task Manager supports and guides with task/work related dutied whereas Foundation Manager supports and guides with matters involving your progress/internship based.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Great company culture, very welcoming, people are happy to support / answer any questions and this extends outside of task manager, foundation manager and immediate team colleagues. Good office atmosphere lots of areas to focus.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I have really enjoyed my time at IBM. I have gained an extremely valuable experience and developed many skills both personally and professonally. I have enjoyed working as part of a team and have definitely developed an understanding of how to work cohesively. I have enjoyed my role however I would like to be challenged more as I found the tasks became repetitive after the first few months.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to IBM
  • Make use of the resouces around you, there is SO much to learn and the resources are there ready and waiting for you to start. Take chances, get involved with things outside of your role. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
