Overview
my role varied in C2, all in-office. Firstly I was in knowledge management, collating important info for a site for the department. Next within mission planning I helped debug faulty code within an important program. Finally, back within C2 I helped develop and verify requirements for an upcoming system
Skills
coming to this placement with no prior engineering experience, I have profoundly improved my skills. I have gained a lot of confidence within my role and abilities whilst gaining many more. Particularly the placement has improved my communication, presentation, confidence, programming and knowledge management engineering skills
Responsibilities
Yes, I essentially ran most of the knowledge management work within C2. Within my other projects, my work was essential for the overall project to continue, and whilst my work was checked, it was largely left for me to develop - giving me lots of responsibility.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of guidance, this was mostly from my Technical Coordinator. Additionally if I was struggling with anything project specific, co-workers or my manager would be available to assist. From my TC, I not only received engineering guidance, but also career help. Mental health support was also available.
Culture
The company culture was professional but relaxed, with an emphasis on your own well being and the results your produce. I cannot praise the Dynamic Working system enough, I cant imagine myself working in a company without the flexible working arrangements of MBDA.
Your Impressions
I hugely enjoyed my placement. To begin with after training I had a couple of weeks struggling to find what to do, but after this my time at MBDA flew by. The support of my manager and the team helped every step of the way. The work I did was engaging and I felt I actually had a positive impact upon the company.
Yes
Above all show your enthusiasm. The rest you can learn with a lot of help from the company, and once you're in you can discover your journey through the multiple placements available.
