Overview
Recurring tasks include creating monthly and quarterly dashboards for various teams to present metrics to leaders, reporting on the progression of new hires in their onboarding curriculum using LAB, creating and maintaining sharepoint sites, managing large projects, recruiting the placement student for the next year, gathering information from leaders on QBRs and creating a summary newsletter to send out to the wider team each quarter and many more fun things!
Skills
Yes- tonnes! I have become more confident presenting to groups of people, improved my excel skills, learnt how to manage many individuals across different teams for big projects, improved my telephone skills through recruiting, improved my creative skills through learning how to use sharepoint.
Responsibilities
Yes! One thing I loved the most about this placement is the fact that I really felt like a member of the team. At no point was I treated like “just an intern” and I knew that the work I did was appreciated and useful to everyone in my team. I was trusted with very high profile tasks and was given multiple opportunities to communicate with leaders.
Support & Guidance
So much support. When you start with SAP you are assigned a buddy from your team which i think is so valuable. They are there to answer any questions, no matter how small. My buddy and I had weekly calls throughout my placement and I found them integral in my learning development. I also had the most incredible supervisor. He was a true mentor and was so invested in my learning and professional development. I am so grateful for his continued support throughout my placement and am sure we will stay in touch in the future. My manager was also fantastic. She set up monthly 1:1s with me where we would meet for a dog walk and discuss my learning development and go through any problems I may be facing (rarely any!!). My whole team was just brilliant; I couldn’t have asked to work with anyone better!
Culture
Amazing!! SAP will always put employees first. Family and personal life is always considered more important and the sense of support that radiates from everyone I have worked with is unmatched. I would very much like to work here again once I have graduated, as I felt valued as a human being rather than just for my skill set.
Your Impressions
There aren’t enough words to explain how much I enjoyed my placement. It was the best year of my life and I wish I could do it over and over again! I am so grateful for this opportunity and could not say a bad word about it. Truly I feel honoured to have landed in such a fantastic team within such a great company.
Yes
Be yourself! SAP placements do not care too much for grades and pride themselves on hiring students from all universities. They are looking for interesting and curious individuals who have a strong desire to learn and develop! Don’t be fearful of interviews or assessment centres, and remember that you are interviewing the company just as much as they are interviewing you! If you get an interview, they already really like your CV and cover letter, so just be yourself.
