Overview
Flexible work, I manage my own time and I am not overly micromanaged. As it is project work my days vary depending on what needs to be done. Days range from; -A whole day formulating (creating shampoo or conditioners) new technologies. -Taking measurements and generating data from samples made. -Desk work, including presentation of data in team meetings and writing scientific reports
Skills
-Presentation skills have greatly improved -hard skills such as JMP program usage -improved my time management -networking and communication were always strong but I have learned how to adjust these for a corporate environment
Responsibilities
I was given a lot of responsibility and creative control over my project. In one of my projects, I ended up stepping up to fill another role when a full-time employee fell ill, and on their return, I maintained the position, and the dynamic of the project was adjusted to maximize both me and the other employee. Many opportunities were given such as sitting in on high-caliber supplier meetings and deciding where the projects should go next.
Support & Guidance
Lots at the start I was supported all the way through the onboarding. Then support fell away but if I wanted it it was always available, this gave me the space to grow and learn in my own way.
Culture
Very supportive of you as a person You didn't feel like just a number, very personal, and had an active learning environment. support was very easily available and people were very willing to help
Your Impressions
Really enjoyed it. Was a great opportunity to experience the corporate world without the pressure of it being a full-time job after university. I really enjoyed working with people with high-level technical qualifications and business roles as well. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I think everyone should do a placement
Yes
They are a very personal and connection-orientated organization. So be genuine and honest within the company and you'll go further than if you didn't. keep a record of the people you meet and what they do, and make the most of any opportunity that comes your way. Or ask for anything if you have a keen interest in it.
