The Role
The work was enjoyable and intresting, the people friendly and the atmosphere nice
Everyone was really friendly!
The support was good but there wasn't much guidance towards overall development and the assignment of personal goals.
Always had enough work to keep me going, sometimes alot but I think thats just rrepresentative of being a real employee - you're not just given small jobs but are actually part of the team
I was responsible for my own projects but recieved support when asked
In respect to scientific training it will not be much help in my studies as the experimental methods are not used in my course. But I think Ive learnt alot about what is required of you as an employee and the characteristics you need to exemplify in order to gain better positions in the future.
The Company
Pretty relaxed but fairly work focused
Pretty weel organised though my department seemed unsure of what to do with me in the begining
I was sent on conferences and had the option to go to lectures, but was lacking more direct guidance from within my team
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
There is nothing available in science however the competitive graduate placements in finance/ communications/ other areas of the company are a possible source of employment
The Culture
There were over a 100 students leading to a university esk feel to the placement - always lots of parties/ social events
It was okay as we were outside of london but pretty standard for the south
Locally it wasn't great but London is about 20 minutes away and thats a good night (but long as the trains stop between 1 and 5)
Again lots to do in London, clubs at the gym and social events
