Skills
On the technical side, I developed my PowerBI skills and some VBA, though these were both through my own efforts. I developed my teamwork skills through experience working in a team, and had opportunities to develop my presentation skills as well. Some of these were in my role, and some were through the placement scheme innitiatives.
Responsibilities
Sort of - there were periods where I had lots to do as other people were off work and I was covering for them, but there were also periods where there wasn't much to do and I had to find my own work to do which was frustrating.
Support & Guidance
The placement has a good mentorship scheme were everyone is assigned a mentor - I personally found this useful and had regular meetings with mine to get a better idea as to how to deal with situations that came up.
Culture
Very positive company atmosphere, I should have tried to move around the business more as I was in a small team but the company had a very positive culture. Seemed to care about employees and support was always there when you reached out.
Your Impressions
There were good parts - I had good moments in my role and the wider placement scheme events were enjoyable. However, I should have moved roles early on as at different points there wasn't much responsibility, even after I had tried to make sure there would be.
Yes
If you don't enjoy a role then move early, instead of trying to make it work as you don't want to be stuck.
