Overview
Now as a business Analytics at IBM TechZone I help with trying to reduce costs. This requires diving into excel sheets to look for environments that can be shut down as they can cost a lot of money and require a lot of computer power. To shut it down normally involves talking to the partner to see if they do need the use and suggesting better/cheaper options. If we can come to a aggreement we can send it over to the automation team for shut down.
Skills
I have learned and further developed many new skills in my new and previous role. Understanding virtual machines was vital to be efficent in helping clients for example Recapture and catalogue VMs when clients are finished with them, transfer Images onto VMs at the clients request and ensure VMs are connectable for clients. I have also deepened my understanding of excel sheets and to be able to look through to see anomalies. I have also done many learning badges fro IBM Agile to cloud core and many more!
Responsibilities
To talk to clients and work with big companies like Airbus was a big responsablity to figure out and comunicate on how to help solve their issue. There has also been responsibilty to comunicate to the right people and to be professional throughout our converstations. I have also been given task of many differnt sizes and difficulty which has given me a full experiance of the working world so far! Also during the close down of a private cloud me and my colleagues had to work through on contigency for clients which was a big ask after a short time there but we did it perfectly!
Support & Guidance
I was in need of constant support form both of my managers for the first few months and I really needed that support o be able to confront and excel in many challenging situations. I also did lots of learning under my managers who gave me recommendations which helped in my undersntading and gave me the confidence to help the clients as efficently as possible. Also the change half way through was greatly helped by my HR manager who made the whole process much easier and was a great soure of help.
Culture
It was my first time working in a tech corporation. It has a culture that wants you to improve by fostering innovation, collaboration and awarding excellence. IBM has also pushed integrity, diversity and inclusivity through embrace. IBM is also known for its continous learning (THINK) and has a strong emphasis on research and development. I have also seen a strong care for business parterns with customer satifaction being a top priority. This love for learning and care is vital for all IBMers to have and gives the future a bright look.
