    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Most enjoyable work experience I've had so far.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Perhaps not like family... But they were all very welcoming and friendly.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Trained me at the beginning until I was confident enough to work independently, but it still available now for if I need help.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I plan my own working week, so I can organise how busy I will be.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given the level of responsibility that I expected, but I wasn't running the show, nor did I want to!

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Interpersonal skills, time management, organisation, presenting, to name a few. Lab work will most definitely help me get a higher mark in the final year of my degree.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Usually fairly quiet, but this helped me concentrate. Chatting occurred more during tea breaks.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • SRG were a farce. However day-to-day goings on with my placement have been brilliant.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was fortunate enough to attend conferences, team building weekends etc. As well as the initial lab training which was excellent.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would love to work for GSK in the future, however they don't have any suitable graduate schemes for the R&D sector.

    2/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were so many placement students that you were bound to get along with someone.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • To be expected from living in the South.

    1/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Terrible clubs... But this only made it funnier. The pubs in Old Town are lovely.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Invited to team buildings, work nights out etc.
