    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, a prominent example of this was executing an event. I picked up skills ranging from event management to operations and legal. It involved collaborating with one of our largest business partners. Drawing upon my insights and expertise gained from my work with the Marketing team and involvement in various client-focused events, I ensured an exceptional IBM presence. My attention to detail and proactive approach reassured all stakeholders and was decisive in delivering the best IBM presence ever brought to one of these events.

They were always looking out for projects for me to be involved in, both in and out of Marketing to really enable me to tap into different departments. • I thorougly enjoyed my placement year, it had its up and downs but overall I look back and am proud of what I've accomplished both personally and professional. IBM has a lot of experience in having placement students and this is evident in the way they welcome us and bring us into the team. I now feel 100% part of the team and feel confident about the role I execute.

  • 7. Would you recommend IBM to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to IBM
  • IBM covers a range of areas, whether its banking or the public sector. There's a department for everyone here at IBM. I would advise people to be themselves, they value confident people with different backgrounds - the recruitment process is very human - they value you and your soft skills. I talk from personal experience but IBM initially seemed very technology focused which could put you off. Technology is ever changing and depending on the department you sit you could be using technology as the benchmark but work within a complete different industry area.
