UK Tax Analyst Review

My role as UK Tax Analyst will involve supporting the UKI Regional Team and the Tax Director Europe. This will involve managing compliance processes and supporting ad hoc project work for both direct and indirect taxes. Day-to-day varies due to weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc tasks.

I have been able to further develop my communication skills and organisation skills. I have also had the opportunity to develop leadership and project management skills through giveback offered by IBM.

I had a lot of responsibility within my role as all my tasks involved some form of gathering information/data for another member of the team. Being able to work independently and take on responsibility is a huge part of this role.

The support I have received has been excellent. My foundation manager was always there to answer questions around my internship and as a general support throughout. My task manager and all my other colleagues were always happy to answer questions or support on tasks if I needed it.

The company culture and atmosphere has always been really positive and upbeat. I was always made to feel as though I was an important part of the team and never felt that I was "just an intern". I have also been able to network with colleagues throughout the company and discuss their roles and what they do and everyone is always more than happy to discuss their role. Overall, the culture is very supportive.

This placement has been one of the best experiences I have had and will be something that I take within me through out my career. It has allowed me to thrive and consider what my future career may look like. This has been an invaluable experience and I have thoroughly enjoyed it.

IBM doesn't just look at your degree they are interested in you as a person so make sure that when you apply you include life experiences and show your personality through your application. Also be open minded because you may just find the career area that you love but had never considered.
