    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I'm given as much responsibility as any other IBM'er - the placement scheme, in my instance, was with a very forward thinking, trustworthy and impactful team. Every team is as responsible as the other and working together, rather than silo'ing responsibility into one person is encouraged, but product and workstream owners are always beneficial.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received as much as I asked for, and everyone was extremely willing to help. I received guidance from multiple varied sources ranging from developers to architects to managers to executives - IBM has been a fantastic teacher in this regard, everyone helps everyone and in my instance, the more I put in, the more I got out.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture is that of a forward-thinking corporation, and the atmosphere was overall fine. I fit in much better with the established engineers and developers than I did with other placement students, however, so I must say that the overall structure of the placement scheme can be quite 'clique-y'.
