Overview
Throughout the placement year, the role changes. To begin with I worked as an ASM in a busy store, looking after a team of 30 people, dealing with the safe and cash, customer queries, creating daily plans, presenting new ideas and pushing for progress and improvements within the store.
Skills
Yes. I have developed many skills, like problem solving, decision-making and communicatiob skills.
Responsibilities
Yes, a huge responsibility. I had the opportunity to cover an area manager for 14 days, therefore had 5 stores to look after.
Support & Guidance
We had a mentor, who we could contact whenever, and received monthly updates / feedback sessions.
Culture
the company culture is fairly formal, and corporate, however the general atmosphere is very friendly and positive.
Your Impressions
I very much enjoyed the placement year.
Yes
ALDI is a very competitive placement / grad scheme to apply for, however I would advise just to be yourself, always push your ideas and show openness throughout the application process, be confident and engage with questions / activities.
