Skills
Yes, lots of new management skills including communication, organisation and self- management.
Responsibilities
Yes, you are expected to take on responsibilities of an assistant manager in stores so you will be responsible for the entire store. This includes running the shifts by yourself, opening and closing the shop, counting the safe value and managing colleagues in each shift.
Support & Guidance
Regular updates with the directors and weekly contact with my line manager who was always very helpful with any requests. In stores, store managers were very knowledgeable and helpful too.
Culture
The company is constantly changing so it was a very fast paced and intense atmosphere. Great if you like change and are open to new developments.
Your Impressions
It was a great year, although tough at times, where a lot of skills have been learnt. Amazing opportunity to be responsible for a variety of people and projects. Definitely teaches you how to manage people and gives you the confidence that you can be a successful manager. Overall, great experience and enjoyed the whole year.
Yes
Be open to change! There was constant new developments and projects which I got involved with throughout the year despite not being on my initial ‘training plan’.
