  • - Meet with customer on MS Teams - Relay their request to relevant expert teams at CTT - Devise Test Plans & Review Test data in order to verify that the product is safe for it's relevant application - Create DVP&R Plans & FMEA Documents for a project

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have been able to get experience in working with various engineering project management techniques, ranging from DVP&R Reports, FMEA Documents & Gained enhanced knowledge of fit/form/function (FFF) Rules. Enhanced my abilities in leading meetings, compiling test reports and documenting approvals. My understanding of turbomachinery & Internal combustion engines have been improved greatly

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes - Lots of it. I am responsible for the DVP&R Management, test reports & risk analysis for a whole customer project. I am also the leader of some internal work ongoing with Cummins' Planet 2050 Goals also. I have also been trusted with prototype creation & Ordering of various components for both testing & shipping to the customers

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Throughout my support has been great - My manager and I have regular 1:1s and the opportunity to ask for help whenever needed. It isn't just my manager however - All the full time engineers are prepared to support you whenever needed & help you develop as an engineer

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture is great - They helped us out when the cost living crisis started but they also do other things such as: - 5 a side football for the employees at the huddersfield site. - Provide lunches every now and again as a treat (e.g pizza) - Hold Xmas Get-Together for everyone working in the App Eng department - Provide you with CTT Merchandise such as polos, shirts etc. - Held a 70-year anniversary celebration

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I have enjoyed being on placement and I have learned so much about the automotive industry which I am grateful for for the rest of my professional career. Even though Applications Engineering has been very different to how I expected, the learning has been fantastic. The networking opportunities & Graduate opportunities with CTT have proved invaluable and will be a great boost moving forward

  • Yes


  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Cummins
  • - Get involved with external work activities like the 5-a-side football! I have met so many people I might not have worked with & Allowed me to be exposed to more areas of the business because of it. It also helps to build up your network and enable you to look for support in so many different places - Don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it!!
