    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role is a Design Consultant. This means I have a took upon UX, UI, user research, content and service design. I do a lot of design thinking activities like user empathy mapping, as-is and to-be journey mapping, and pain points. I work in teams in an agile way to produce outcomes for clients. We work in sprints which are fast paced and means we get results quickly. There is a lot of group work.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Yes, I was completely new to UX so have learnt everything. Enterprise Design Thinking is a big part of UX so I have learnt all those activities. I've learnt software like Figma, InVision, Mural etc. I've learnt agile working methods like sprints, stand-up meetings, retros etc.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, there was a point in time that all the other designers were away on a live client project and I was trusted and given the responsibility to continue working on the project, making sure we didn't fall behind. I was trusted to run workshops with the clients and get feedback on them as the only IBM representative.
