The Role
I enjoyed my placement a lot, it definitely exceeded my expectations. My role was very varied and gave me an opportunity to get involved with all aspects of recruitment and even explore a career in HR further. Working in a corporate environment has really been a valuable experience.
Very valued … treated as another employee not just a student. My opinions very valued and taken seriously. My manager also made sure I was involved in most team events or activities.
I was given tremendous support by my manager , more than what I had asked for and was well coached at every stage of my placement. I had weekly 1:1’s with my manager to discuss progress, next steps and objectives and most importantly make sure I was doing well.
I was always occupied with interesting tasks and challenges, but at the same time had the opportunity to continue with university assignments and explore subject matters for my dissertation. My role was very varied and I had different tasks on a monthly basis.
As I became more confident I was given further responsibility … during busy periods I was expected to get on with my work… however when there were quiet periods I was free to explore and learn more about the company.
My skills extended and developed on what I had learnt at Uni. Now I feel I am well equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to work full time after I graduate. Most of the stuff I have learnt is a real eye opener and what I have learnt at Uni is nothing compared to this.
The Company
Very enthusiastic, relaxed, friendly and supportive
The placement itself was very unique and well organised. Because my manager is responsible for student and graduate recruitment I felt he understood what students really what to get out of their placement.
I had access to an online learning tool with thousands of courses. Most of the training I had was practical and on the job. I was constantly encouraged to get involved with activities out of my comfort zone to also help with my personal development.

Very appealing. I haven’t got much to compare Xerox with, but I definitely know that Xerox is a great organisation to work for, people are well looked after and I would definitely like to come back to Xerox given the opportunity.
The Culture
Definitely , we had over 60 students on site, it was like being at Uni again , and there was a lot of opportunity to get involved with students in company events.
Average, not too expensive and affordable for students
Excellent … lots of pubs around town, a few clubs… also if you got bored with the local area, theres always other towns nearby. What’s more central London is not too not far away and the tube is very accessible.
Lots of opportunity to get involved with student charity team and take part in various fund raising activities throughout the year, as well as attend company events.
