Overview
I audit financial statements. This involves testing the difference numbers that make up these financial statements. Day to day, I enquire with the client for support and explanations of how certain processes work within their company
Skills
I have learnt better communication skills when talking with the clients. Time management, understanding of the corporate world.
Responsibilities
At the begining I did not have much responsibility but as the placement year continued, I was exposed to more of the client and given more responsibility with testing and communicating with the client.
Support & Guidance
On my first engagement, I was assigned a senior who gave me a lot of support and guidance throughout my placement.
Culture
The company culture is very supportive in general. However, the work life balance is difficult to maintain. It is typically expected to work very hard in certain times of the year which can be challenging. The people in general are very nice and welcoming.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my placement year and it has given me a lot of exposure into the wider working world and what to expect when working in a corporate place.
Yes
I would tell them to research a lot into the company and have facts at hand. It is good to know the company values and what it stands for as that translates a lot into the work
